We focus on global knowledge. We want to understand — ourselves, each other, the world. We seek to discover what is true. We are confident, fearless, hopeful, and diligent in this quest. Why? Because we know that God, the creator of all things, is the source of all truth, and the truth cannot contradict itself.

Chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and psychology reveal the inner workings and intricate design of creation. Literature probes its mysteries and implications. Anthropology, history, classical studies, Semitics, and library science trace its enduring patterns. Modern languages, economics, politics, sociology, and media studies explore and interpret its cultural expressions. Education connects its past, present, and future.

We are 17 departments engaged in research and teaching. Our faculty comprises world-class thought leaders who have attracted top-level graduate students to work with them in our laboratories and libraries in research that is creating new knowledge and serving humanity in new ways. Each year, a new cohort of undergraduate students is welcomed into this inspired and enthusiastic learning environment.

We are collegial in the best sense. Our culture is founded in the Catholic faith and welcoming to people of all faiths and traditions. Underpinning the extraordinary academic excellence of our school is a community of people committed to encouraging one another to live their best life and be their best self.

We are the School of Arts and Sciences at The Catholic University of America.
