Darby Drake is a Biochemistry student from Frederick, MD. She shares why she chose to attend Catholic University, and what advice she has for prospective students.
Why did you choose to attend Catholic University?
"I choose CatholicU because I was so impressed by the amount of internships and research opportunities they had to offer. I also met with the Chemistry Department before I came and I was so impressed by the credentials of the professors. They were so excited to welcome me.
Something that meant a lot to me was the amount of support I knew I would receive academically by my professors and how hard they would work to make sure I was prepared for life after college."
What's been your favorite part of being a student at Catholic University?
"My favorite part of being a student at CatholicU would definitely be the community. Everywhere I go people are always so welcoming. Something else that greatly impacted me was being able to work in Dr. Rao's lab on campus since my freshman year. I have made a lot of friends with the PhD candidates and graduate students and I'm very lucky to learn all the tips and tricks that they teach me."
What advice would you give to prospective students?
"I would find the department that you are look to study with and reach out to the professors over the summer! They are super friendly and willing to give you a lot of information about their department! Some professors can even tell you about the internships available in their department and what they are currently researching."
