The Department of History will host its annual History Major Career Event on Tuesday February 25th at 7:00pm in Great Room A of Pryzbyla University Center.

Each year the department brings back to campus a group of B.A. history alumni, drawn from sectors ranging from law, business, finance, government, technology, to museums and public history and beyond.  Alumni first give brief presentations in panel format and then join current students for rounds of “speed networking” at individual tables.  The aim is to allow our students to comprehend the wide range of career possibilities that a history major opens to them, to understand the transferable skills with which their subject equips them, and to learn from our alumni’s experiences in getting where they are now.

As in past years, the department is fortunate to have as its keynote speaker Dr. Robert Townsend (B.A. 1988, M.A. 1990), Director of Humanities, Arts, and Culture Programs at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a prolific analyst and writer about the humanities in today’s workforce.  We greatly appreciate all our alumni’s willingness to participate in this event, part of the department’s commitment to preparing our students for post-college life.

This event is open to all current history majors, minors, and any students considering a history majorThere will be a reception with food at 6:30 in 321-323 Pryz. Please feel free to contact Dr. L.R. Poos (poos@cua.edu) for more information.
