Catholic University accepts credits from Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and College courses taken while in High School based on the following criteria:

Advanced Placement

  1. The AP course and credit must be in an area approved by the appropriate faculty at CUA.
  2. The AP score must be approved by the CUA faculty.
  3. The AP credit must fit into the student's overall academic program at CUA.
  4. The AP course without the AP test, but graded on an official transcript from a college or university, will not be transferred to CUA.
  5. The official report of the AP scores from the College Board must be sent directly to CUA. The school code for CUA is 5104.

International Baccalaureate

  1. The student must have completed the entire IB program and earned the IB Diploma.
  2. The IB course and credit must be in an area approved by the appropriate faculty at CUA.
  3. The IB score must be approved by the CUA faculty.
  4. The IB credit must fit into the student's overall academic program at CUA.
  5. The official report of the IB Diploma and  scores must be sent directly to CUA.

College Courses Taken While in High School

CUA allows undergraduates to transfer college courses taken while in High School provided the following conditions are met:

  1. The course is completed at a regionally accredited institution.
  2. The course is substantially similar to a CUA course.
  3. The course is completed with a grade of C- (C minus) or better.
  4. The course does not duplicate, overlap or regress previous work.
  5. The college or university offering the course allows the course to be used for credit toward its own undergraduate degree.
